About US

Our Beginnings

  • Since our inception in 2002, we have grown from Beginners and Intermediate to an Advanced program with a focus on specific filmmaking skills. We have an exceptional team that specializes in writing, directing, acting, production, editing, special effects, make-up, props, costumes and wardrobe, stunts and music. We are using up to date technology and knowledge when we teach.

  • Our uniqueness lies in our experiential, hands-on learning process as we work to develop and teach the young filmmakers of tomorrow.
  • Another facet of the FILMSTERS Academy experience is the supportive, 100% non-competitive creative and collaborative atmosphere. At FILMSTERS Academy, we are committed to building an awareness of and genuine appreciation for the art of filmmaking.

  • We bring in young professionals as well as industry seasoned masters to advise and teach in various specialties. We have guest writers, directors, producers, acting coaches, editors, makeup artists, sound and camera, lighting teams and more.  Our student/instructor ratio is two to one.
  • Participation in FILMSTERS Academy is an experience unlike any other – the energy and creativity felt here opens new doors to self-expression that will inspire your child to redefine their creative identity.

Our Favorite Work

"At the end of the day, the work I enjoy the most is when the audience of over 500 people reacts to  the original films our kids make at the student film festival. It is a thrill to see them up there doing a real Q&A talking about their experience."

-- Lee Anderson, co-founder

Our Alumnae's Life Today

"I was the first-ever film camp scholarship recipient. Who knew that I'd end up in the writer's room at Dreamworks animation. This job allows me to explore my interests and to find my passion. I don't know where I'd be without them."

--- Ben Lapides, filmmaker
